St. Benedict Secondary School Graduation – 2011

Students and teachers at Benedict Secondary School celebrated their 2011 graduation on the 24th of September. Girls and boys of the graduating class were congratulated for completing their four years of secondary school education. After their graduation they had their National Examinations in October which marked their conclusion of their secondary education. We pray and hope that these young men and women will be salt to where they will be going having acquired good moral upbringing in this school run by the Benedictines.

The First St. Benedict High School Graduates Perform well in National Examinations

Teachers and students at St. Benedict Secondary school are happy to learn that their first High School graduates did quite well in their national examinations they sat for in February 2011. There were only three graduating students. In the four divisions scale of the National Examination Council of Tanzania, Mary Mwanyika earned Division Two, Clementina Nziku and Alpha Komba both scored Division Three. We express our hearty congratulations to them. Congratulations too to the administration and teachers. May St. Benedict Secondary School flourish ever more!!

St. Benedict Secondary School Celebrates The First Graduation of Advanced Level secondary Education

It was on February 16th 2011 when St. Benedict Secondary School teachers and students witnessed the first graduation of students of Advanced level secondary education. There were three graduating students namely Alfa Komba, Clementina Nziku and Mary Mwanyika. Of the three Clementina Nziku had previously completed her Ordinary Level Secondary education at St. Benedict School. We extend our congratulations to the three students and we are proud of them. Being a pioneer class they might have had a lot of difficulties and doubts, yet they prevailed to the end. Now that they have paved the way, there will be more applications than the school can handle. We also thank the teachers for the support they gave to these students. In photo above from right Fr. On graduation days students have the opportunity to have better food than they have on ordinary school days. They get delicasies of rice with beef with stew and soda. They line up for food, get their shares, sit down and enjoy!

The 2010 Graduation at St. Benedict Secondary School

St. Benedict Secondary school celebrated their Form IV graduation on the 21st October this year 2010. Worth noting in this graduation is the fact that two nuns of the Camaldole Congregation from Mafinga – Iringa (in southern highlands of Tanzania) were among the graduates and were the firts nuns to graduate at the school. Such is the aim of the school to be able to accommodate even people of relatively advanced age! At the graduation ceremony were, among many, the Headmaster Fr. Mugaga Meselle, OSB, and the guest of honor Fr. Eliyo, also Fr. Chrysostom the rector at Hanga Seminary. In the photos: Above: The guest of honor handing over a leaving certificate to a student (Frt. Two Hanga Students Recieve Division I on National Exams

Two Hanga Form 4 graduates have received Division I on their National Exams. Cyprian Luambano from St. Benedict Secondary School and Demitrius Sanga from Hanga Religious Seminary scored top marks on the national exam. Dedication of ST. JOHN BOSCO NAKAGUGU FORMATION HOUSE

On December 3rd 2009, The new Church of St. John Bosco was blessed by His eminence Cardinal Polycarp Pengo at the Nakagugu formation house. The Church was built under the direction Rev Bishop emeritus Plasidus Gervas Nkalanga OSB, the formator of Nakagugu.

The celebration was very nice and many people came to celebrate.

Hanga Vocational Training Center Celebrates 2009 Graduation

On the 11^th of November we celebrated graduation of 13 students from our Vocational Training Center. Eight girls and five boys successfully completed their education this year. In the morning the Abbey Monks held a mass for the graduates with the whole VTC in attendance.

After a blessing of the graduates and a wonderful mass, the students celebrated their accomplishments at the Vocational Training Center.

Hanga Religious Seminary Celebrates 2009 Graduation

On the 22^nd of October 2009 we celebrated the graduation of Form Four in our Seminary. An impressive mass started the celebration and feast. All students participated in the days activities as they celebrated mass together as a learning community for one last time. Before the readings, five Form Four students presented the bible.

The headmasters of all three Hanga schools attended the celebration along with our Monk and Bishop Plasidus Nkalanga. Many students from Hanga’s schools also attended, and the girls of St. Benedict danced for the celebration. Hanga Religious Seminary’s marching band also intermittently and enthusiastically preformed throughout the day.

The day ended with dancing and joyful celebrating in the main hall.

Saint Benedict’s Secondary School Celebrates 2009 Graduation

Saint Benedict’s Secondary School celebrated Form Four gradation on the 26^th of September 2009. The students of Form Four sang skillfully at holy mass, which started the day of celebration. The choir’s enthusiasm added excitement to the celebratory mass. After mass, the ceremony continued at St. Benedict. The main hall was decorated for the occasion and the Seminary’s Brass Band preformed.

There was a rich program with a lot of singing and dancing performances by the St. Benedict students. Many relatives attended the celebration.

It was a joyful day for everyone!

HIV Testing Begins at the Dispensary

On March 26, 2009, Hanga Dispensary opened its doors to anyone who wanted to get tested for HIV. Their first client was the Head of Hanga village. He set a great example for his community by coming in for HIV testing. Villagers may fear the results of the exam, but workers in the dispensary have made it clear that there is a support network for those who find out they are HIV positive.
