A tragedy befell Hanga Abbey when two of the members died consecutively within three days. Frater Nolasko Lwila died on May 2, 2012 and Frater Filbert died on the 5th of May. Frater Nolasko was born in 1950 and joined Hanga Abbey in 1971 as he made his first monastic vows. In his life he served in the abbey animal farm. He worked as missionary in Zambia for 21 years. During the las six years he has been at the abbey working the animal farm. His health began to dwindle since three years ago and became worse in 2010 when he paralyzed unable to move neither speak.

Frater Filbert joined the abbey in 2009 when he made his first profession as monk. He died of stomch complications at Peramiho hospital in his early 20’s.
